Hello and Welcome! I and Leigh Ann Johnson RN, BSN, NCSN (although the kids call me "Nurse Johnson") and I love being a school nurse! I serve the students and staff of Millingport Elementary School, West Stanly Middle School, and Locust Elementary School. I graduated from UNCC in 1998 and have previously worked in ICU and the Emergency Department. I have been a school nurse since 2006 and a nationally certified school nurse since 2008. Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have throughout the year. Your child's health is my main focus and I value good communication!

MEDICATIONS
If at any time your child will require any medication to be taken during school hours they MUST have the Physicians Authorization Form for Medication (see link below) filled out by physician. There are NO exceptions to this policy. Please print off this form and take it with you to the doctor if you think your child needs medication given at school (think about inhalers, epi pens, pain relievers, seizure medication, etc.). All medication must be brought in by a parent.
 
No student will be allowed to bring medications to school or on the bus.  Students may not have medication in their possession except with a physician's order for emergency situations only.  There is zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol in Stanly County Schools. 
 
Medications must be in the original container.  Medications brought in ziploc bags or other unmarked containers will not be given. Prescription medications must be in the pharmacy container labeled with the child's name, date, name of medication, name of prescribing physician, times(s) medication is to be given and name of the pharmacy filling the prescription.  We request that you ask the pharmacist to give you two labeled prescription bottles so that you have one bottle at home and one at school.
